iPhone bug prevents posting to Lithium communities - please fix!

Hi!

I'm a volunteer moderator in the Lenovo Community and enjoy using Lithium every day. It's a great tool! Now that the praise is out of the way I'll spend the rest of the time complaining :

It's impossible to post to Lithium communities on iPhone. There is a bug which prevents the iOS keyboard from automagically appearing when you tap in the text entry box in Safari.

This applies to iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch (all iOS devices).

There is a workaround: post in raw HTML via the HTML tab. As you can imagine this is rather tedious!

The Lenovo community displays beautifully on the iPad and iPhone 4, but I can't post!

Any ETA on a fix for this bug?

Hi Michael. Thanks for the comment. That is really interesting as I have never heard of that bug before. I am posting this from my iPhone direct without any issue and straight after will go and check lenovo too. At this time I am not aware of a problem but let me look into this and get back to you.

I believe Andrew is viewing the full WYSIWYG on his phone, rather than the mobile view (the mobile view only accepts plain text). This issue between the WYSIWYG and Safari.

Hi Andrew - in looking at this since your post we have found some oddities with new versions of IOS (the apple iphone/ipad operating system). Will keep you updated - thanks for finding this and letting us know.

Hi Andrew--

Thanks very much for reporting this.  The underlying issue here is that we don't have full support for mobile phones on the desktop version of our software.  That is, because we have a version of the software that is optimized for mobile phones, supporting them on our desktop version isn't in our support matrix.  

However, given the popularity of the iPhone, we are looking into this.  As Paul said, it might be an issue between the new version of IOS and our software.

Yes the problem occurs when using the full WYSIWYG of the Lenovo Community on my iPhone 4. It looks great on the high resolution retina display... just this little problem which prevents posting. Thank you for looking into it!

I noticed that I was automatically put into a simplified mobile view when I logged in to the Lithosphere on my iPhone 4. Thank you for including the easy switch to the full WYSIWYG view! I confirmed that the same posting problem also exists in the Lithosphere community.

It was happening for me before I updated my 3GS to IOS4 and is still happening now.

Yes I also saw it on my 3G under various 3.x releases of the iPhone OS. It happens on the current iPad OS release too.

Everything looks normal when you open "Post Message", except it behaves as if there is a white rectangle covering the text entry box. When you click in the text entry box you can select the white rectangle, but Safari doesn't see it as an edit/insertion point, so the keyboard does not open.

I see the bug also exists in other Lithium communities: e.g. the Logitech community, and paradoxically, the AT&T wireless community.
