New PM Alerts user dynamically

Problem: when I receive a new PM while logged into the forum, it will take until a refresh to see that I've received a new PM.

Suggestion: alert the user dynamically on the UI that a new PM has arrived, like a flashing box or a popup that a new PM has arrived. Or possibly an alert in the bottom right corner that a new PM has arrived.

Good one! We need a generic notification bar that displays updates on various events within the community. New PM alerts is a good example to start with. I am hoping we can get to this soon. I can't wait till we have a notification status bar..like Facebook Its a great way to keep the user addicted to the community. Kudos to this one!

I was going to add a separate Idea for this but it seems related to the Admin comment.

I'd like to have a notification sent to a user when they receive Kudos.  This could be an email if they've set that up or something like the PM mail icon.  I think they would like knowing they received the Kudos without having to check and it could encourage more posting.
