Good sources for Community Info

09-10-2008 10:06 AM

Hi there,

Just curious if other folks have any favorite blogs/books/sources for Community-related topics.  I have a handful that I'll bounce out and check, including:

Probably my favorite blog is "Creating Passionate Users".  It's loaded with good content and ideas...even though new content isn't posted anymore (much to my dismay).

Do you have others that you would recommend?

Thanks,

Roxy

Roxy-

I'm currently reading The New Influencers which is about online community, primarily blogs. So far it's been a very interesting read.

Hey everyone,

mashable is a great blog that covers all that is new in the world of social networking.   It's not so much a "how to manage your community" resource as it is a "here's what's innovative in the world of web 2.0".  Same for techcrunch.

great thread!

Now that you mention it, Laura, there are a few others that are great for keeping up with emerging trends.  One (or rather two) that I like are Dion Hinchcliffe's blogs on ZDNet and Social Computing Magazine.

Hi Priscilla -

If you are enjoying The New Influencers, you may want to check out Paul Gillin's upcoming book, Secrets of Social Media Marketing - How to Use Online Conversations and Customer Communities to Turbo-Charge Your Business!

We'll be hosting a live webcast with Paul and our VP of Community Mgmt. Services, Joe Cothrel, on Oct. 8th at 2PM EDT/11AM PDT around topics covered in the book such as:

  • How companies can encourage customer conversations and protect their brand
  • How to use customer conversations to create an ongoing feedback loop that leads to new product ideas and improvements
  • Best practices from FutureShop, Canada's largest retailer and e-tailer of consumer electronics, on using online conversations to learn more about their customers, provide better support, and sell more products.

We'll also be mailing out copies of Paul's latest book to the first 100 to register and attend the live event.

Hope you can join us!

The "creating passionate users" blog is really great! I got a lot of useful information from that. You were right, it's too bad that she's not posting new content on it any longer.

I can't say anything about the other sites as I haven't had time to check them out yet.
