Lithium Wizards....

Is there a way that I'm not seeing to create and pre-package your own set of custom Avatars?

So, instead of the Robot, Animals, Sports.....we give our users a grouping of our own to choose from?

If not....I think that would be a wonderful Idea...

Hah!  I'm right behind you on that one.  This is a feature that CSM has lobbied very hard for to be built into the product, and believe it or not, it is coming soon.

There are a couple of ways to skin the avatar cat.  Attaching an image in a "hidden" post and having people link to it from there will work, but it requires that you give them the "allow user to use external avatars" permission.  But I think what you envision is the admin having the option to add or subtract options from the present pulldown menu in the "My Settings" tab.  Furthermore, if somebody has a specific Rank, they should have the option to choose ones that other people dont get to choose from.

At present, we can add those sorts of things for you, but only by request via your CSM.  In the future though, there will be a workflow in which you, the Admin, can modify the options in that dropdown.

Brilliant !!! That's just what I'm looking for.

So, for now I can go through our CSM and in the future do this on my own? Is that correct?

When you say 'coming soon'......how soon would that be?

Yeah, go through your CSM for the moment.

If I told you "how soon" Product Managment would probably murder me in my sleep.

What I can tell you is that this is part of a bigger initiative to expand the image / asset management within the Admin console itself.  We're envisioning a file system (similar to the traditional folders of an OS) where you can place assets (even if they're components to a header, kudos icons, avatars etc) that you can then map to certain elements on the community pages such as header, Kudo icon, avatar, etc.

Right now this is all hush-hush and in a discovery process so I cant really give you a timeline.  Likely to be in the first half of next year....but you didnt hear it from me.

....oh wait, this thread is public.  Oh well, I'll just go back and edit my post and deny everything if push comes to shove. Heheh.

Ohhhh, that's cool!  I like it!  Looking forward to this being built-in functionality...or will go check with my CSM if that timeline doesn't happen soon enough.
